Simulating the Mechanics of a Peristaltic Infusion Pump
A peristaltic pump is a critical component of a generic infusion pump, where the flow is generated by utilizing the mechanically generated peristaltic wave in a tube. The peristaltic motion is mechanically generated and controlled precisely by a stepper motor along with a series of "teeth." A multi-physics simulation tool, Simscape™ is used to simulate the mechanical, electrical, and fluidic performance of the entire system; this enables engineers to develop robust embedded control software efficiently.
