In this video, see a boom lift model created in Simscape™. The boom lift simulation was created by integrating a CAD model with hydraulic actuators and a control system modeled in Simulink®. Connecting these designs in a virtual environment makes it possible to evaluate system level performance. The boom lift simulation can calculate exactly how much force and torque is required to execute any range of movements. With this information, the proper size actuator can be selected or even designed. The full hydraulic system can be integrated into the model, including 13 actuators, one passive cylinder, and more than 50 hydraulic valves. See a range of smaller models used to individually test any actuators or portions of the hydraulic network. This shortens simulation time so that more tests and refinements can be made in less time.
