Patent an algorithm written in Matlab ?

Hi,

Everything or almost is in my title ! I know the rules / laws are different from one country to another (patenting an algorithm is not possible in France for example, whereas it is possible in the US).

How it would go since Matlab is a registered company ? (and then Matlab not a free langage)

Do you know some more on this topic ?
