MathLab-SL Student R2018b vs. R2020a, and Tool Boxes between 2 versions

Q1: I got ML-SL Student R2018b re-installed to my Dell laptop (as Licensence # 4XXXXXXX on my account). Can the Student 2020a ToolBoxes (for examples Motor Control Block Set, Antenna TB, RF TB, Simscape Electric, etc.....) work GOOD (ie. NO Trouble, NO Bugs, NO Errors, etc... ) with ML-SL Student R2018b? Please confirm Y/N and explain in details/suggestions/advice!

Q2: If your answer is "GOOD" for above Q1, then how/what Steps can I choose/place the Student R2020a ToolBoxes order?

Q3: My this current Dell-2017 Intel-i5-processor Win-10 Laptop has CRASHED oftenly (thus I did renew Win-10 the whole laptop, ie. renewing the whole laptop and I lost all schoole PDF files). If this Dell laptop ever Crashes again in near future (for example 5 months from today or 2 years from today, and I need to renew the whole laptop with new Win-10 re-installation again), am I allowed to re-install ML-SL Student R (that I paid)? If YES, then How many times am I allowed to re-install ML-SL Student for this same laptop after Crashed-trouble Renewals?

Q4: My brother gave me his Dell Intel-i3-processor Win-10 Laptop as a Backup for me (in case my above Dell i5-processor Laptop ever Crashes again), am I allowed to install the above ML-SL Student R2018b (that I paid) ALSO to this Dell i3-processor Laptop (as the 2nd Laptop)?

Q5: How long years does ML-SL Student R2018b work actively GOOD (OPERATIONAL GOOD for 1 year, 10 year, etc...; ie. I am still be able to open, use, learn...)?

Q6: 2 days ago, I ordered ML-SL Student 2020a with some Student 2020a ToolBoxes (order # 12042766, License # 40925698, I paid $200.81 already, but HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED/installed yet). DUE to my current tough financial situation, I am thinking "TO CANCEL the order of MLSL Student R2020a, but KEEP the Student R2020a ToolBoxes DEPENDING Your Answer to my above Q1). Please advise Which Best Smooth method that I better to do (in order to get ML-SL Student and ToolBoxes RUNNING SMOOTH, NO Bugs, No Errors)!

Q1: No. You will need to use the toolboxes from the same release as the release of MATLAB you're using. Running toolbox versions from release R2018b in MATLAB release R2020a is not supported and neither is running toolboxes from R2020a in MATLAB R2018b.

Q2: I'm not certain but I believe you can still purchase add-ons for release R2018b through the online store.

Q4: See the License Agreement. It comes up in the Installer before you install the software, or you can access it in your installation (Home tab on the Toolstrip, Resources section, click the triangle below the Help icon, select Terms of Use.)

Q5: The Store FAQ states "For how long can I use student software?

You can use student software indefinitely. After you graduate you may need to purchase a professional license."

Q6: If you want to use the versions of toolboxes included in release R2020a you will need to be using the version of MATLAB from release R2020a.

• Q8: For the order # 12042766 [License # 4XXXXXXXX, I already paid $200.81 including ML-SL Student R2020a with 9 additionally-paid ToolBoxes at $10 for each TB, but HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED/installed yet], I want to add some more ToolBoxes (at $10 each, NOT $17, 19, 29 each) to this order. Should I CANCEL this order and Restart new order?

Please advise! What do I need to do? Who should I call/contact for this?

I'm going to purchase MATLAB and Simulink Student Suite: R2020b.

So please help clarify some concercing as below:

- How can i purchase this version? As i know, i have to use an email to create an account on Matlab portal then i can purchase through the website. But please let me know about this email. Does it require email for education like ".edu" or not? Or I can use Gmail to purchase this license.

- An Matlab account can purchase multi licenses ( exp. 45 licences) or only one license? For example: The monitor can purchase licenses for all members in the class.

- Because purchasing through the website, it will be charged by Credit card. So please let me know if it requires one Credit card for each license. Or I can purchase multi licenses using one Credit card.

- The warranty period or maintenance period?

- Is this a permanent license?

- After purchase, I get an activation code or a license through email.

- How to download and link licenses to use?

• Proof of university enrolment may be required, and typically the easiest way is to use a university email address. It is not the only way, but the order may be delayed while proof of eligibility is established.
• You can purchase multiple licenses for your own personal use. You cannot purchase Student licenses on behalf of anyone else. Exception: elementary and secondary school teachers (levels before university or college) can purchase a license for the entire school; https://www.mathworks.com/academia/highschool/products.html
• If you are in an area that can purchase licenses directly from Mathworks, you can purchase student multiple licenses for your own personal use on a single credit card.
• There is no warranty period. However, there is a period during which you can get a refund. I am not sure what that period currently is.
• Each student license arrives with one year of Software Maintenance Service (SMS). You are eligible for free upgrades to any versions released during the time you are on SMS. SMS can be renewed for a price.
• Student licenses are permanent, and entitle the person to use that version during any time in the future during which they are enrolled as a student at a degree-granting post-secondary institution. During any time that they are not so enrolled, the person is not authorized to use the software. This does mean that once you graduate, you are no longer authorized to use the software, but that if you later return for additional courses, that you could resume using the software as long as the course lasts.
• Upon purchase of a Student license directly from Mathworks, you will be emailed an activation key, not a license number. If you purchase through a distributor, procedures may differ.
