Why I see an error about model topology when using Restricted mode with Simscape by simulating a model in a different release?
The model was saved in restricted mode in R2016a. It should now be simulated using R2019a.
The error message is as follows:
Cannot compile the model. The model topology has been illegally changed since the model entered Restricted mode. Please restore the original model topology, or switch to Full mode.

Please ensure first, that you really did not change the model topology.
If you still run into this issue and you opened a model from an older release in a newer Simscape release, then you see a versioning issue.
The Restricted mode is only supported when saving the model in the same release as it has to be run with.
So if you would like to run it in R2019a, please save this model in Restricted mode in R2019a first and then you should be fine.
If this is not resolving it, please contact our Technical Support team regarding this issue.
