Why does MATLAB crash when plotting with Linux drivers?

I was trying to create a plot when suddenly MATLAB crashed? I am using a Linux machine.

This is caused by a bug in the graphics card drivers related to OpenGL. To work around this issue utilize the version of OpenGL that ships with MATLAB.
To do so, use the "-softwareopengl" startup flag to start MATLAB. For more information regarding startup flags, please refer to the following page:http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/matlablinux.html
