Saving figure to clipboard no longer works correctly in R2014b

1 view (last 30 days)
I recently upgraded to R2014b from R2012b on Windows 7.
I noticed that a tool I use to save figures to a Powerpoint slide now cuts off the figures if they are wider than a certain size. After a little poking around I found that saving a figure to the clipboard seems to be the root cause.
The following simple code works in 2012b, but not 2014b:
figure;
textline = 'asdfdsa fdjlkasdjflsa flsdkajflsadkjf slkdafj blah blah blah etc etc etc falsdkjfas blah blah pwoeriwepr pwoeriwepo laskdfj realllly long textline is finally done';
text(.02, .60, textline);
now manually size the figure to include the text, then
print(1,'-dmeta')
Then open a PPT and "paste". R2012 shows the entire figure window, with text appropriately sized. R2014b shows the figure cut off on either the right and sometimes left edge, with the text sized incorrectly in respect to the PPT window size.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround available?

I found a work-around:
If I use
hgexport(1, '-clipboard')
it works perfectly, although much slower than I would like... Oh well.
