Parameterized parts are used to model a scissor lift in Simscape™ Multibody™. This enables rapid exploration of the design space for the scissor lift mechanism. A MATLAB® UI is used to adjust system-level parameters, such as overall scissor lift width and length, and the parameterized parts all scale automatically to fit in the new space. Parameterized parts make it possible to interactively explore design options, and enable an automated search for the optimal design using optimization algorithms in MATLAB.
