Hardware Agnostic Model-Based Design Workflow for Rapid Prototyping of Image Processing Applications
Srinivas Vajrala, Qualcomm Technologies Inc
A prototyping platform with a supporting software toolchain enables efficient development and evaluation. In addition, it allows collaboration and can play the role of a demo vehicle. This yields a scalable prototyping platform that caters to a broad range of system engineering needs for seamless modeling of multiple applications in the imaging domain.
A mature hardware-friendly ecosystem of tools and an efficient workflow are essential components to ensure a smooth development cycle. MathWorks toolboxes provide crucial components for simulation, model-based algorithm design, hardware interfacing, and testing; thereby catering to the various stages of the development cycle.
HDL Coder™ and Vision HDL Toolbox™ feature the ability to generate hardware-agnostic HDL code that can be used for deployment to FPGAs and ASIC designs. The HDL Workflow Advisor also streamlines integration of custom board and reference designs to MathWorks tools, thus opening the door for seamless rapid prototyping. The workflow allows the algorithm modeling engineer to stay within the MATLAB® and Simulink® framework for evaluation of custom target hardware.
The well-documented framework and API from MathWorks help designers to configure development boards for rapid prototyping and deployment. The workflow also offers options for scalable solutions downstream and enhances integration experience for a broad variety of applications.
The proof-of-concept and the corresponding workflow utilizing the toolboxes will be presented.oncept and the corresponding workflow utilizing the MATLAB Toolboxes will be presented.
