Carlo Tomasi is the Iris Einheuser Professor of Computer Science at Duke University. He holds a degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining Duke, he was assistant professor of computer science at Cornell and Stanford. His work emphasizes video analysis, recognition, image retrieval, medical imaging, and stereo vision.
His publications have been cited more than 30,000 times according to Google Scholar, with more than 20,000 citations for his top five papers alone. He has managed or
co-managed more than twenty research grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and private companies, and holds eight US patents. He is an ACM Fellow, and was awarded two IEEE Computer Society Helmholtz Prizes and the David and Janet Vaughan Brooks Teaching Award from Duke University.
