mean across rows and columns

i have a code that produces 10 x 5 matrix, i want it to find the mean across the rows rather than down each column.

for a=(1:5);
% some code here
Major1=(MJ_V11);%(0:end); %10 x 5 matrix here
Major11 = mean(Major1);
end
