Low-cost video capture devices compatible with Image Acquisition Toolbox?

5 views (last 30 days)
Hello,
I need to capture an analog video signal (via either coax, vga, or rca) using the image acquisition toolbox, and I'd like to do it without buying an expensive frame grabber if possible. I have seen the brands listed here for compatibility:
but it doesn't specify brands for simple video capture devices. Might anyone have some advice or suggestions?
Thanks.

I have a similar problem. I want to be to take an RCA video input (NTSC) from any camera and manipulate in MATLAB. I have an Elgato USB video capture device, but it doesn't look like MATLAB supports it. Elgato support were not helpful as they said their device must use their software.
Mac solution is preferred, but PC will work too.

I use a simple Logitech webcam with ease. It's inexpensive.

I do not have an image capture device which transfers the analog signal to the PC.

By "image capture device" you mean a frame grabber board, not a camera? So you already have some particular camera that you must use? And it's not a supported one that uses a standard interface like firewire or USB? And you need to use one of the supported frame grabber boards to grab frames from that camera? If so, have you contacted the supported frame grabber board manufacturers to see if they can capture your device's signal?

Is the input source NTSC or PAL, or something else?
Maybe you could use osprey 100 at about $US170

The imaging device is a Sony XC-ST50 CCD camera. The output of the camera is coaxial which I can convert to VGA or RCA, so perhaps the osprey would work? Also, is the Osprey supported by the toolbox? I do not see it in the list of manufacturers.

I got side-tracked looking for something affordable, as the prices I was finding for the known supported devices are around $US1900 - $US2300.
