Gender cannot be identified by appearance, or by motion analysis.

It depends on how "gender" is defined exactly. E.g. if you classify any person, who is identified as female by the algorithm, as female, you get a tautological problem. Persons in wheelchairs or with one leg, very tired or injured persons, persons walking backwards and playing children do have a gender also. So my advice is (sorry for the frequent contributors in this forum, who have read this personal opinion already): Why bothering Matlab with a task, which cannot be accurately defined, but solved by a 5 year old child more reliably?
But in contrary to this, your favorite internet search engine will find a lot of publications for the terms "gender gait analysis". So please start there, if you think this is a useful task at all.

This is not a MATLAB question. Search Vision Bib for an algorithm.
