Converting a 1x1 cell array to a vector

I have a transfer function. Lets call it xfer. So,
I need to work with the individual coefficients in the denominator. When I call xfer.den, MATLAB returns a 1x1 cell array with all coeficients contained in a single cell seperated by commas. See snips below.
I would like to have this in either a 1x4, or 4x1, double like shown below
Is there a way to have matlab make this conversion? How do I call an individual coefficient ( i.e. xfer(3)=3 )
