Install 2 instances of Matlab on the same PC

3 views (last 30 days)
Hi,
Iv'e just bought a home user licence, R2020a, and discovered that I am entitled to all previous versions of Matlab.
I am wondering if there would be any problem if I install, say R2011, on the same PC?

I seem to recall that R2011a might need some assistance from Mathworks Support, but I no longer recall why.
Sufficiently old versions of MATLAB might not be compatible with your operating system. You might be able to run in compatibility mode, however.

Yes, and no. I frequently have several old versions of MATLAB on my computer. Walter has many as I recall. The only issue is if your computer can still run that old release.
Check the support page to see if the old release you wish to install can still run on your machine. Also, remember that older releases will not have bug fixes applied, in case of any problems that were identified in later years.
Depending on your computer and OS release, there may be issues with a release of that antiquity.

I recently had a lot of trouble getting the newest Windows 10 installed on my Mac (Bootcamp) and ended up scrubbing my old Windows that had some of the older MATLAB releases installed. I will re-install if I need them.
