Matlab help is not working

I have installed Matlab version 9.5.0.944444 (R2018b)
Now the matlab HELP service stopped to work.
What might be the reason for this failure?

Can you provide more details about what you mean by the service stopped working? Is there any error message?
I think the solution would be to install the latest version, r2020a. Not sure why you didn't, and installed an antique version.
If you can't/won't upgrade, then the FAQ covers your situation: Read the FAQ
I have crash report about this occurence.
Please see it.

Make sure that you are not overriding any functions called by help.m with mfiles of your own. For example, if you have your own mfile called strip.m, it may shadow the strip() method of Matlab's string class, which help.m does invoke.
One way to trap such problems is to activate the debugger with,
>> dbstop if caught error
and then test your call to help() again.

Another good first troubleshooting step would be to
>>restoredefaultpath
and to disable any startup.m files you have.
That worked for me. Thanks
