I have a network and this network is divided into grid. Network consits of random nodes. Now how do i calculate the number of nodes (red diamond) within this grid? First each Grid should be given an appropriate name. If Grid(1) is input then output should be 3 and so on.

I'd try histogram2(). Make sure you pass in the gridlines as "edges" in the input arguments.
