Plotting 3D staggered point grid

I'm kind of new to Matlab,

I'm attempting to plot a 3D point grid that is staggered but am having problems understanding how to start.

By 'staggered' I mean a scheme that looks like as shown in the attached pdf. The the spacing between any two adjacent points to be the same...but obviously, this pattern to be repeated in a 3D rendering with variables for point spacing and length for the xyz repetition. The lines in the given illustration are only for 3D reference, they would not be plotted. The RED point is colored here for reference and is located in the center of the cube of outer points.

Use plot3() to plot the 8 corner points, and the center red point.
