There are smarter ways to format an SD-card, see https://www.easeus.com/partition-manager-software/format-sd-card-using-windows-cmd-and-formatter.html , but this works through the system command also, e.g. under Windows:
system('format I: /fs:FAT32 /a:1024 /q /x /v:MySDCard')
Open a command shell of the operating system and type:
format /?
to learn more.
ATTENTION: This will kill the contents of the drive mounted as "I:" currently. Be careful!

I was thinking to add a Format button on a GUI I am developing so the user can format an SD card, so the system command might be the only way to go. Thanks.
