What are the practical use cases of data hiding?

I am working on image based reversible data hiding. I know this area is very young and currently concentrated by academic research community. But I wanted to know is there any currently working use cases that are based on reversible data hiding or stenography. If one wants to develop a use case then what type of measures needs to be taken.
