How to open a figure that was previously printed into a .ps file using MATLAB?

Open it in what sense? You want to get a figure() back, complete with all of the objects that were used in MATLAB to create the .ps? Or you just want a rendered image that you will treat as an image?

I know of three basic approaches .
- trigger an external utility such as ghostscript to render into an image that can be imported https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/58280-input-vector-graphics-into-matlab
- read through the postscript to find the encoded image and render it yourself
- open a web browser in MATLAB to display a file:// and then access the canvas https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/web.html
