Do you know the format file?
I read that the data format is called JAXA. There has been software to read the format into R, but at present I do not happen to see any for MATLAB. There is documentation available about the file format.

.dat is an extension used by many many programs. There are a lot of different and incompatible .dat file formats.
@ walter Roberson, so i cannot process such data in matlab?
Are the files 17280000 bytes long? Are they 2764800 bytes long?
