Is there a way to change the default syntax coloring in the live editor, independent from the 'normal' editor? I use color schemer in order to get my code text on a darker background for ease of use.
I'm somewhat dismayed that in 2018b, the coloring used in the normal editor is also being used in the Live Editor, resulting in syntax that uses a light coloring for contrast against a dark background is difficult to read on the white background of the Live Editor. The only way round this that I can see currently is change the colour for both, which I don't want to do, as this would be a compromise for both uses.

This is a vital feature for Mathworks to implement. Most programmers use dark-themed backgrounds and colour schemes. This works well in regular Matlab scripts, but when you use the Live Editor you all of a sudden have to contend with a strident white background, which is very unpleasant indeed and whose colour cannot be changed!

There must be a way to change the color scheme using the Java interface? Anyone figured it out? My eyes are burning up from the white.

Hi
It's a known issue and the concerned teams are working on it.
It may come in future releases.

As of R2022a, you can now configure live editor's background and foreground colors. See more info: https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/release-notes.html
