A few months back I bought and installed the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox from MathWorks. I subsequently installed it, activated and successfully used it in my work.
Now, however, when I type
>> kmeans
To use 'kmeans', the following product must be licensed, installed, and enabled:
Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox
I'm pretty sure the toolbox is installed as I can see the Classification Learner App in the Matlab GUI. I think the problem is with license and I'm not sure why this happened all of sudden.
Another quick note: once when I left Matlab unattended it lost access to the server. When I checked back it said:
MATLAB has lost its connection to the license manager.
MATLAB will make 10 more reconnection attempt(s) and then exit. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
I don't know if this might have somehthing to do with my missing license. Please let me know how I can get my license back.
Thanks.

The "ver" command returns installed products, but it is likely your installation is fine. To see licensing, use
license('test','Statistics_Toolbox')
or
license('checkout','Statistics_Toolbox')
If it returns a 0, then something is from with checking out the license from the license server. You probably need to reach out to your IT to solve that.
