Esignal getdata function doesn't work on non-traded symbols

My Esignal APIs worked fine on most symbols like IBM etc. but when I tried to read non-traded symbols like $VIX or $ADV it returned all zeros. I also tested the desktop API sample and it worked just fine on $VIX and all other symbols. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!
