[Solving System of Linear Equations] What is the norm of the error and how is it different from the norm of the residual?

2 views (last 30 days)
So I am given two systems: Ax=b and Bx=c where A & B are n by n matrices and b and c are vectors of n size. I'm supposed to solve each system for x using "inv" and "\" functions and calculate the norm of the residual and norm of error. I know how to calculate the rest BUT I don't know how to calculate the norm of the error. What is the norm of the error?

Error refers to the difference between the observed value and the actual values while residual is the disagreement between the observed values and the estimated values of the observed quantity.
