Alpha-numeric or alphabetic data type format for Neural Network Toolbox (nntool)

If i use training/testing data of alpha_numeric or alphabetic in Neural Network Toolbox (nntool), which should be the data type format?In nntool box you should have to maintain the proper data type format for training.

I try with the data type of array, cell array, struct, table, cell, double, mat. But all those are unable to read the data in nntool box. Data example like as a data of Iirs data, download it from UCI Repository.

Can anybody help me and ensure with experiment.
