Simulink will open up without issue, I can choose from the templates for what I want to create. However, past that, the program is unable to perform any function. All buttons and options are grey and cannot be clicked, rendering simulink completely useless. I have R2017a - Student Use

To resolve this issue, we need to set the correct TEMP path in Environment Variable of Windows, and it can be done by following ways -
1. Set the Windows Environment Variable TEMP to the correct path - C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp.
Please refer to the following Windows documentation link for the details on how to change Windows Environment variables. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/310519/how-to-manage-environment-variables-in-windows-xp
2. Please set the correct TEMP path in MATLAB as well by including the following command to the 'startup.m' file -
>> setenv('TEMP', '%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp')
This should set the TEMP variable's path correctly in the Windows and MATLAB both, and resolve the discrepancy in the paths which was causing that error.
