Hi Every time i double click a matlab file (*.m, *.mat or *.fig) in an explorer windows, a new MATLAB instance starts, even if another one is already opened.
The matlabroot folder, however, is on a shared network drive for which I don't have administrator right (and I cannot ask for them).
I copied the pathdef.m file in my userpath folder. However the issue is still present. How can I solve it?
I'm using MATLAB 2015b

+1 for a clearly asked question. Compact, but includes relevant info and links.

Please run the file exchange code and restart MATLAB.

This page explains how to re-register the .MAT extension, but you can follow the same instructions for other file types.

The link to "Azad" is incorrect. Azad's solution works!! Correct link to this comment: https://se.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/93468-why-is-a-new-instance-of-matlab-opened-when-i-double-click-on-a-matlab-file-in-windows-explorer-even#answer_301876
