Precisely, what is the problem?
If it isn't the single quote that should be a ' instead of a , you will have to copy-paste the complete error message.

I have seen my computer sometimes want to swap a standard quote, in fact, do it without my ok. To fix that, I had to disable smart quotes.

It works fine, IF you use a valid character for '
a = [1 2 3; 4 5 6; 7 8 9] * [0 1 0]'
a =
2
5
8
The character you used for transpose was:
+'’'
ans =
8217
But the valid transpose operator has ascii code:
+''''
ans =
39
