Will a user be prompted to update MATLAB if he updates his OS to a new version that is no longer supported by the version of MATLAB currently installed?

Our university has a campus license for MATLAB. I am trying to figure out if we need to instruct users who update their Mac OS to high Sierra (10.13) that they will also need to download a new version of MATLAB.
Would a user in this situation be prompted automatically or have any sort of warning the first time they open MATLAB after updating their OS to a version no longer supported by their current version of MATLAB? Thank you.

Hi Ellen,
If the MATLAB version you are using is R2016a or above, it is supported by all the latest versions of OS. However, if the MATLAB version is older than R2016a, MATLAB may not be able to render itself and might fail to launch.
