I'm unable to find the correct code to get a 'less than or equal to' symbol in to a text document?

I think it should be
text(.4,.4,'$3 \leq 4$','interpreter','latex')

To keep standard font
text(.2,.2,['3 ' char(8804) ' 4'])
text(.3,.3,['3≤4 (default)']) % if your editor is configured to support unicode
text(.4,.4,'$3 \leq 4$ latex','interpreter','latex')
text(.5,.5,'3 \leq 4 tex','interpreter','tex')
