Generate a ladder with known band intensity

I have a intensity profile with multiple peaks. I want to construct an ladder-like image with bands that represent the intensity profile. The thickness and color of the bands should be proportional to the intensity (black and thick bands mean stronger intensity, gray bands mean weaker instensity). How should I achieve this task? Thank you!

Hello Tung,
The "imhist" function might be close enough to what you are looking for. It can plot a histogram across intensities, but the bands themselves are not given different weights. Instead they are drawn as bars of different heights.

You can get a mean profile across your image vertically or horizontally with mean.
meanVerticalProfile = mean(grayImage, 2);
meanHorizontalProfile = mean(grayImage, 1);
Not sure what to do after that because you forgot to attach your image. Please do that as well as attaching what you'd like to obtain as an output image.
