I'm trying to import/read a TCX file (a Garmin xml file) so that I can do a math operation on height data. Basically I want to edit the file. Long ago I wrote such an m-file that would me to do as much, but that was two hard drive crashes ago, and answers are on a hard drive that won't reveal its contents.
I've tried renaming the file as an xml file and then using xmlread to try and read it, but all I get back is "null file".
Is there a way to just read any file? I know the number of columns and the data in those columns.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you use the following line of code and input your file name as FullFileName it should work
FileStruct = readstruct(FullFileName,'FileType','xml');

Hi Robin,
You can try and use the MATLAB import tool using the "Import Data" button in the Home tab. You can customize the import of the .tcx file and generate a script for all the customization using "Generate Script" or "Generate Function" option.
