How to converting 2D MRI dcm files to 3D VRML (STL, VRML files)??

Hello Experten,

I have to convert a 2D image from MRI (DICOM) to a 3D image (Virtual Real Modeling Language (VML, STL files)) for my master thesis.

Could anybody help me and give me some ideas how to convert the picture on the fastest way from 2D to 3D and convert it to Virtual Real Modeling Language? What free programs could I use best: ImageJ, Mipav...?

I would be happy about some ideas.

Did you end up using anything in the File Exchange Library to resolve your issue? I am working on a similar problem and am curious as to where to start.
