how can i simulate transmission of packets along shortest path in WSN in matlab... any suggestion is appreciated

i am simulating a routing protocol in WSN.. I dont know how to transmit packets between source and destination along the shortest path... i want that the source should initiate the packet and the intermediate nodes should forward the packets along the shortest path to the destination... if possible provide me with some working function so that i can understand
