Enabling Data Cursor in App Designer?
Show older comments
How can I enable the data cursor for all plots in a UIFigure made in the new App Designer?
I have tried datacursormode(app.UIFigure1) but get the error message:
Undefined function 'getAxisComponent' for input arguments of type 'handle.handle'.

Same problem here. I wonder if datacursormode is working in App Designer 2017b.

I am also trying to show values through my graphics displayed on UIaxes (app designer)! Is it possible?

I am also trying to use datacursormode on App Designer when a switch is toggled. Doesn't seem to be working at the moment, but will try again later and post a solution if it works.

Would be very nice, at this point the activeX gui plots are more advanced because of this!

Same here, using App Designer 2017b and looking for a solution. Did any of you guys find a workaround?

datacursormode is supported in uifigures (e.g. app designer) starting from R2020a I believe (tested in R2021a).
For example, place this in your app's startup function,
datacursormode(app.UIFigure, 'on')
ginput is also supported in uifigures (e.g. app designer) starting in R2020b, I believe. However, since ginput still does not have an input option for an axes handle, you have to follow steps outlined in this answer so that ginput acts on the correct axes.

datacursormode, ginput, and rect are unsupported in-app designers. Expected to be added in future release.

@Lee & @David Giger I noticed your comments were made in 2021 so I've updated this thread with a new answer that addresses your comments.
