Hi, I have a Matlab ver 2010a, and I'm trying to start with Matlab parallel computing, after the installation I start the Admincenter, add a host, and start with the Test connectivity. Afterwards, I obtain an error in the MDCE column, "status unavailable".
I have seen other post and they suggest to install mdce with the admin privileges and start it, but when I go to the folder (in which there is admincenter as well), there isn't the file called mdce but only mdce_def. Is it possible? Or, in your opinion an error during the installation is occurred.

It sounds like your installations are not complete. Did you install the MDCE feature when you installed MATLAB? It's separate from the Parallel Computing Toolbox. With Admin Center, you should set up the MDCS, start job manager, start workers and that should be about it.
Also, FWIW, mdce.bat should be there and used to install a service on Windows, e.g.
mdce install
mdce start
Installation support can help you set up MDCS and get it running, too.

try to install the "network version" rather than the "standard alone version"
