How to set markspacing on matlab?

Hi,
considering two matrix (1*1000 double):
a b
and the plot code:
figure('NumberTitle', 'off', 'Name', 'f(x) Comparison');
hold on;
set(gca,'YScale','log');
xlabel('Iteration');
ylabel('f(x)');
plot(a);
plot(b(1:20:1000),'--Diamond');
hold off;
It shows below which is apparently wrong.
How to modify that?
