Plot function not working (black screen)
Show older comments
I've recently installed Matlab 2015b (the latest 32-bit version) on my Windows Vista computer. I know that this OS is no longer supported, so if Windows Vista is the cause of my problem, then I'm willing to accept that.
Most of Matlab seems to work just fine though. In fact, the only problem I've had so far is with the plot tool. There is no error message and the plot tool opens up, but I just get a black screen where the plot should be (see screenshot). The same happens with the surf tool.

What could be causing this? Am I missing some package? Thank you for any tips you might have.

correct this to code
x=[1:100]; % mark square brackets in order to make a vector.
>> plot(x,x)
output is plot with straight line

@ Muhammad Usman Saleem: 1:100 is a vector already and additional square brackets are not required. At least in older Matlab versions, adding square brackets consumed a tiny but measurable period of computing time, so I'd suggest to omit them.
By the way: This does not concern the question in any way. The OP has another problem.

the way to assign a vector is also correct by my way. In above screen shots its seem that small brackets () has been used for generation of vector

Using (1:100) is also fine, and is not the cause of the user's problem.

This is an old thread, but i hope you can help me here. I'm using the online version, and it's showing a nice plot when I execute the plot command for the first time. After that, I'm only getting a black screen (I'm using Safari). I ran the 'opengl software' command as you recommended, but it didn't work. Do you have any other recommendation?

I got a solution! I tried the same plot using a different browser (Chrome) and it worked!
