Amper-hour capacity of Battery model from SimPowerSystems

4 views (last 30 days)
Hi everyone,
I'm currently using the battery model from SimPowerSystems tool box and I have just one question.
In the help page "http://nl.mathworks.com/help/physmod/sps/powersys/ref/battery.html" it mentions at last that "The capacity of the battery does not change with the amplitude of current (No Peukert effect)."
But actually, I notice that when plot the discharge characteristics with ampere hour capacity in horizontal axis and voltage in vertical axis, it shows that the capacity decrease with increasing current?
Does this conflict with the assumption?
Best regards,

No, this doesn't mean you won't get a different amount of energy out of the battery at different loads, it's just that the model internally is not adjusting the storage potential based on output current. There are still other aspects, even just internal resistance, that will reduce total energy at higher currents.
