The function sym or syms is not been compiled in matlab-2011a

"sym" and "syms" are part of the Symbolic Toolkit, which is an optional product which is not included with MATLAB Professional Version or MATLAB Academic Version, but which is included with MATLAB Student Version (but it has to be installed.)
