how to plot cross hatch over correlation map?

I have done the correlation analysis beween two gridded data sets (size 180 x 360), also find out the signficant map for the the correlation (size 180x360). Now want to hightlight significant area in correlation map with crosses. How can do this?

To be clear, I'm not the author of hatchfill() or hatchfill2(), but I did post copies on the forum which I have patched.
... and I guess I kind of did adopt its promotion.
That said, the linked example regards the application of hatchfill2() to patch objects, so if you can express your significance map as a patch object in your geographic plot, you should be able to apply hatching to it using insight from said example.
