Statistics and Machine Learning toolbox stopped working in Matlab online

7 views (last 30 days)
At some point today the Statistics and Machine Learning toolbox stopped working for me and all my students. For example, typing:
binornd(1,0.5)
ans = 0
yields a response in the command window of:
"binornd requires Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox."
Clicking on the add-ons button, it thinks that the toolbox is installed. Perhaps this is due to a change in version for Matlab online (now 2024a)?
Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi Robert,
I was also facing the same problem a few hours ago, but it seems to work fine for me now.

I suspect you may have connected to a bad worker. Creating a new session will connect you to a new worker, and should fix the issue. If not, then there may be a temporary outage impacting the experience. Those tend to be resolved relatively quickly.
If you do not have access to a toolbox online and on your desktop, then that toolbox may not be included in your license. Type ver in the command window to get a list of the products you have access to. In the desktop version, use the add-ons explorer to add toolboxes you have access to through your license. All products on your license are available online.

Thanks for your response! It has indeed appeared to resolve "on its own" (at least for me - I have yet to check with the students).

I am starting to have the same problem. The online version doesn't work.

The community can suggest things like clearing your cache and trying a new browser. If you have tried those and still experience the same issues, you should contact support.

The current recommendation is the exit your session and then launch a new session. There is an intermitent issue, so until a fix is in place, you may need to do this multiple times before you get a good session.
