matlab application not responding when I try to close a plot

Problem:
Everytime I try to close a plot (it is a lot of data but a few months ago I was able to do it countless times just fine) the application freezes and I have to force quit in order to use it again.
Extra Info
I am on macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 with MATLAB 2023b, I also had this issue on 2021a and tried to update to see if that would fix the issue but it did not.
This happens all the time when I close a plot as of a few months ago (even when the "Interact Directly with Charts" pop up is not there).
I tried some of the other things on the mathworks community and other websites for how to fix it but they don't work.

It's a known bug. See, e.g., this lengthy thread.

I don't think the thread helped, the problems are slightly different. Mine is specifically and only when I close a plot. In any other case matlab works fine.
The thread does mention your specific problem. For example this comment. (You can also just search the page for the word "plot".) Regardless, it is a known issue.
FYI, using the close command instead of the X in the window usually doesn't cause a crash, and also having the focus on a different window before closing the figure.
Apologies, I missed that comment, thank you for the quick response. I will try that!
I have been having the same issue. Sometimes even when opening the plot browser. Is the bug fixed in 2024a release? Or when is the bug expected to be addressed?
