Turning voltage on/off in a PV Array and DC motor simulation

7 views (last 30 days)
Hi, i'm trying to simulate a DC machine connected to a PV array and i'm having difficulties finding a way to turn it on or off during the simulation. I would like to put a condition later to control it but for now, I tried adding a controlled voltage source between the PV array and the DC machine with 0 as an input to see if it would stop the PV array to power the motor but it does not work. I thought switching the input between 0 and 1 would either stop or let the voltage from the PV array to go through.
Any suggestion on how to do that?

Use IGBT instead of the block that you show in the picture. You can use PWM signal to turn it on and off during the simulation.

What do you mean exactly the controlled voltage source does not work? Did you take into consideration that the load torque will keep spinning the motor regardless of whether its windings are excited or not?
I suggest you put 0 for the load torque as well just to check if the 0 input to the controlled voltage source turns off the motor or not, and if not you can use an ideal switch https://www.mathworks.com/help/sps/powersys/ref/idealswitch.html.
