How do I enable ActiveX control for QuickTime in Windows 7 64-bit?

Hi, I'm looking to build a GUI to interface an Excel document, some user-written matlab functions, and a media player all from one location. I've seen some examples online of users interfacing QuickTime in their GUI's via "guide" but is this possible via Windows? I don't see the option for the quicktime plugin in the ActiveX control list. Maybe I need to register the .ocx file for Quicktime control, but however I'm having trouble locating that file.
Repeated google searches have yielded little to no info, any help here?
