Is it possible to simulate a Double-Acting gas only actuator using Simscape?

2 views (last 30 days)
I'm working on a project where I want to model a system which utilizes a double acting pneumatic actuator, to model the motion of a drop-tower style rollercoaster, but I can't seem to find an actuator that will work with two opposing gases, rather than a gas-liquid interface. Does such an actuator exist within matlab that I can play around with or would I have to model this system using another method?

Hi David,
I understand that you want to model a double acting pneumatic actuator.
The following link contains an example that shows how the Foundation Library gas components in Simulink can be used to model a Double-Acting Pneumatic Actuator: Pneumatic Actuation Circuit - MATLAB & Simulink (mathworks.com)
In case you want to know more about how to model a Double-Acting Actuator, kindly refer to: Modeling a Double-Acting Actuator - MATLAB & Simulink (mathworks.com)
For further information on designing an actuation circuit with custom pneumatic components, kindly refer to the following link: Actuation Circuit with Custom Pneumatic Components - MATLAB & Simulink (mathworks.com)
I hope this answers your query.
