How To Access Sensor Data Generated Locally by MATLAB Mobile versions 8.2 through 8.9 on iOS?

5 views (last 30 days)
When I complete a sensor acquisition from my iPhone via MATLAB Mobile and log data locally, I cannot find any ZIP files or even a MATLAB folder in the iOS Files application.
Where is data generated by sensor acquisition stored locally in iPhones?

Where is generated data stored
The default location for sensor logs to be uploaded to, in MATLAB Mobile releases 8.2 through to 8.9 inclusively, is  MATLAB Drive/MobileSensorData/. This means that by default, logged data will be saved to the MATLAB Drive, which can be accessed on any of your devices. Changing the destination folder will change where these sensor logs are saved to. You can change the location where logged files are saved to in the MATLAB Mobile settings, specifically Sensors -> Settings -> Sensor Logs -> Upload Folder. Information on how to do this can be found in the link below

This Upload Folder has to be a folder on your MATLAB Drive and cannot be a folder local to the iOS device. When Sensor Log Data is stored locally on an iOS device, before uploading to the selected MATLAB Drive destination, it is stored within the MATLAB Mobile Application. It it is not accessible through the iOS files app.
Potential workaround
Since this data is stored locally on iOS devices within the MATLAB Mobile application, it can be accessed via a lightning cable connection despite it not being accessible in the files app. When connected to a Macintosh, via a lightning cable, the iOS device will show up in the finder application on the Macintosh. Via this method, the logged data should be able to be accessed without requiring it to be uploaded to the set or default MATLAB Drive cloud directory.
To note
Our recommended workflow is to use the MATLAB Drive cloud storage solution, as this can be accessed via any of your devices with an internet connection.
