Hi, I'm encountered with this problem when trying to load a .mat file:
*??? Error using ==> load Unable to read MAT-file C:\sub1 Prmtrs.mat: not a binary MAT-file. Try LOAD -ASCII to read as text.*
It's very strange that this program did work in the computer I'm now using yesterday. I can also load data using the same .mat files and the same program in another computer earlier today.
I'm very confused. Could anybody help figure out why? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have been getting the same error. I typically get it after opening and closing several large mat files. If I exit Matlab and restart, I can continue to open/close more mat files but eventually I get the error again. Mathworks really needs to do something about this.

I've solved the problem by re-copying the mat.files from another computer.....Anyway, thanks a lot!

Change the file extension from .mat to .ascii
This worked for me.
